On December 12, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved draft agreements on provision of EU technical assistance to Ukraine.
These documents encompass the agreement on financing the event "Program the facilitation of contacts between people: the House of Europe" between Ukraine and the European Commission for 8 year term with a budget of €18 million. The purpose of the program is to attract technical assistance from the EU to facilitate contacts, professional contacts, and cultural exchanges between citizens of the European Union and Ukraine.
This Agreement stipulates for provision of EU technical assistance for the following areas: professional exchange through the organization of short-term professional training in the EU member states; support of the "Europe House" software and information center; creation of a special window for expanding the opportunities for Ukraine to participate in the Erasmus + program; providing reimbursement of 50% of the amount of Ukraine's contributions to the program "Creative Europe" for 2018-2020 years.
The second one- Agreement on financing "Energy Efficiency Support Programme for Ukraine - EE4U-II". This program is a continuation of the Energy Efficiency Support Programme for Ukraine - EE4U, which came into force on April 18, 2018. The program seeks to attract EU funding in order to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Ukraine. Total EU contribution: EUR 54 mln
The Government also endorsed the Agreement on financing Technical Cooperation Program for 2018. The purpose is to attract EU funding to support Ukraine in implementing the Association Agreement / Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Ukraine and the European Union. The budget makes up EUR 37 million euros.
The Agreement aims to provide technical assistance to the Ukrainian authorities in bringing the national legislation in line with the EU legislation in the priority areas: environment, transport, energy, sanitary and phytosanitary control, standardization, accounting, electronic communications, cyber security; to support state and civil society institutions in the field of protection of civil rights and to ensure participation of Ukrainian organizations in the program "Horizon 2020".
Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft agreement on financing the project "EU4Skills: Best Skills for Modern Ukraine". The target is to attract EU funding for the needs of reforming and modernizing vocational education and training in Ukraine. The total budget provided by the Agreement for the support of educational projects - 58 million euros.
