  • Government has approved a draft law on the development of highly efficient cogeneration

    On December 16, at its meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the Government has approved a draft law on the development of highly efficient cogeneration developed by the Ministry of Energy and the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine.

    "With this bill, we are introducing the principles and provisions of EU laws in Ukraine, in particular, Directives 2004/8 / EU and 2012/27 / EU, in order to create conditions for the development of highly efficient cogeneration. This is an important way to increase fuel efficiency," commented the acting Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Konstiantyn Hura.

    Among the important provisions of the bill are as follows:

    introduction of appropriate terminology;

    conducting a comprehensive assessment of the use of highly efficient cogeneration;

    cost-benefit analysis of high-efficiency cogeneration potential for heat-generating facilities > 20 MW;

    setting of qualification indicators to be met by highly efficient cogeneration units.

    The adoption of the bill will contribute to the restructuring of heat-generating facilities into highly efficient combined heat and power plants and, as a consequence, the rational use of traditional energy resources.
