On April 10, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the draft Decree of the President of Ukraine "The issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration", which stipulates the activities of all public authorities in line with the course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, enshrined in the Constitution.
Adoption of the act will ensure implementation of the strategic course of the state for acquiring membership in the EU and NATO pursuant to the Law of Ukraine dated February 7, 2019, No. 2680-VIII "On Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine (Regarding the Strategic Course of the State for Acquiring Full-Fledged Membership of Ukraine in the European Union and in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization)". The decree will make it possible to determine the priority tasks for the public authorities of Ukraine to implement the strategic course of the state for acquiring membership in the EU and NATO. The draft Decree provides for the adoption of an Action Plan for the implementation of the course. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is charged with ensuring the reporting on the implementation of this Decree in due terms.
The draft Decree was elaborated on commission of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze by the Government Office for coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Interior Ministry, Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice and other central executive authorities.
"On February 7, 2019, there was taken, without exaggeration, one of the most important steps that determined the further development of our country - I mean the consolidation in the Constitution of Ukraine if irreversibility of the course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Thus, we have confirmed our commitment and have set ourselves an ambitious ultimate goal - membership in NATO and the European Union. But in fact, this is just the beginning. To achieve the great strategic goal it is critical to make concrete practical steps. In order to systematically and efficiently implement the changes envisaged by law No. 2680-VIII, there was elaborated the draft Decree of the President of Ukraine, which stipulates for the approval of the action plan. This is a list of clear objectives for government agencies that provide activities in all key areas, strengthening the institutional capacity of government bodies, development of scientific and educational potential and many other things", commented on the decision of the Government Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.
