Relevant amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution “Certain Issues of Affordable Housing for Citizens” were approved at a visiting Government meeting in Mariupol.

The Resolution has been supplemented by the norm for determining 1 sq. m marginal cost of housing for settlements that are located up to 15 kilometers from the boundaries of the regional centers and Kyiv city. It cannot exceed the indirect cost, increased by 1.5 times. Prior to the introduction of the amendments in towns adjacent to the capital and regional centers and regional centers, the marginal cost was assumed to be indirect without increasing the coefficient, which made it impossible to purchase housing in them. People used to buy accommodation in Kyiv and regional centers with a coefficient of 1.75.

The changes made will allow program participants to choose cheaper properties outside of the city of Kyiv and regional centers.

Apart from that, the Resolution stipulates that the Ministry of Regional Development can, from November 15 to December 1, adjust the allocation of budgetary resources among administrative and territorial units in case of possible failure to apply funds by the end of the budget year.

Due to the extended state support for affordable housing program from UAH 100 to 400 million (in its first reading the Parliament adopted amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2019" to increase the budget program by UAH 300 million) around 950 families, in particular 700 IDPs families and about 200 families of ATO/ JFO participants.
