The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at a meeting on May 22, 2019, approved the nominees for independent members and representatives of the state to the Supervisory Board of the Boryspil International Airport State Enterprise.
The winners of the competitive selection at the Government meeting were presented by the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Saienko, who is a member of the Committee for the appointment of heads and members of supervisory boards of state-owned enterprises of particular importance for the Ukrainian economy.
According to him, Volodymyr Zhmak (Ukraine), Roger Scheifele (Germany), Stan Abbeloos (Belgium) have become independent representatives of the Supervisory Board of the company, while Yurii Lavreniuk and Anatolii Mamula have been appointed representatives of the state.
"This is another small step to pursue a corporate governance reform, but it is a huge leap for the company", Oleksandr Saienko stressed.
The headhunting and independent assessment of candidates was conducted by an international company dealing with headhunting and selection of leadership personnel Odgers Berndtson Ukraine.
It should be noted that 74 candidates took part in the competition, including 49 Ukrainian and 25 foreign citizens. According to the results of the evaluation of candidates 14 finalists, of which 7 Ukrainians were shortlisted.
In March 2018, the Government reformed the Appointment Committee, and these changes received positive feedback from the IMF, the EBRD and IFC, which are actively involved in its work. During the first year after the reboot, the updated Appointment Committee formed independent supervisory boards for the four largest state enterprises - Ukrzaliznytsya, Ukrenerho, Ukrposhta, and the Ukrainian Sea Port Administration.
