The Government has approved a number of projects aimed at supporting the regions, including the redistribution and use of subventions to rebuild infrastructure in eastern Ukraine, to support school nutrition reform, and to develop communal infrastructure. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal told at a regular meeting the Cabinet of Ministers about the relevant draft acts on August 11.
According to the Head of Government, the subvention will be redistributed within the framework of the Emergency Credit Program for the Reconstruction of Ukraine. The project aims to qualitatively restore the infrastructure of communities in eastern Ukraine that have suffered the most from the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The redistribution of funds will enable the implementation of 170 projects aimed at the rehabilitation of health care, education, culture, sports, community centers and CASPs.
Moreover, at the regular meeting, the Government has settled the issue of using the balance of the education subvention. Denys Shmyhal noted that these funds could be used to support the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska to reform nutrition in schools.
"In 2020, more than 1,800 schools received refurbished dining facilities, this year this figure will be significantly increased, including through the enhancing of funding sources," said the Prime Minister.
The Head of Government also announced a decision to approve the procedure for providing a subvention to local budgets for the development of communal infrastructure, including the purchase of municipal equipment.
"We propose to provide local governments with a support tool in the total amount of 100 million hryvnias, thereby allowing to reduce the cost of purchasing municipal equipment," stressed Denys Shmyhal.
