The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has provided an opportunity for Naftogaz to lower gas prices for the population from April 2019. The decision was made by the Government on April 3, 2019.

According to the Government's resolution, if the gas market environment demonstrates fall in gas prices for industry, Naftogaz is obliged to sell gas to the citizens at a price, which is calculated as the arithmetic average price of gas which was fixed by the state-run company for selling gas to industrial consumers on prepayment conditions. If the price for the industry is increasing, Naftogaz should sell gas to the population at a price set by the Government of Ukraine.

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, the trend towards decline in gas prices will be observed in Ukraine by December 2019. This fact has given the Government a reason to lower gas price for the population.
