  • Government Commissioner for Gender Policy holds working meeting with UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine

    On 28 August, the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy Kateryna Levchenko held a working meeting with UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine Matthias Schmale, who was appointed on 11 August 2024.

    During the meeting, the parties discussed the continuation of cooperation between the Government Commissioner and UN agencies, in particular the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, in particular on:

    • gender mainstreaming in the work of UN agencies and executive authorities of Ukraine;
    • communication with civil society organisations, including those led by women;
    • joint participation in international events to highlight the situation in Ukraine and advocate for support for Ukraine in the international arena;
    • responding to and counteracting sexual violence related to the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine (CRSV).

    Kateryna Levchenko spoke about the implementation of the project on urgent interim reparations for victims of CRSV, which is being implemented at the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna and in cooperation with the Global Survivors Fund. The Government Commissioner noted the uniqueness and importance of this project for the survivors themselves, as it is an element of identification and recognition that helps them take steps towards rehabilitation and return to life.
