On 28 August, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met in Kyiv with the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government thanked Italy for its comprehensive support and special focus on Ukraine during the G7 Presidency.
“It was at the summit in Italy that the leaders of the Group of Seven made a historic decision to transfer USD 50 billion of proceeds from frozen russian assets. We expect to receive these funds by the end of the year,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The parties discussed current issues of cooperation: finance, strengthening of air defence, energy, integration into the EU and NATO, the Peace Formula, and recovery.
Denys Shmyhal thanked for the patronage of Odesa and for the willingness to hold the Ukraine Recovery Conference in 2025 in Italy.
“We should focus on demining projects, energy sector and logistics development,” the Head of Government said.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine wished the Ambassador a successful diplomatic mission to develop and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
