  • Government's Prykhystok programme was a great help in the first months of full-scale war

The Government's Prykhystok (Shelter - ed.) programme was of great help in the first months of the full-scale war. This was stated by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, during a live broadcast on a TV channel. According to her, the programme worked well. Especially in the first months of the war, when people were moving en masse from dangerous regions.

She thanked hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who opened their homes and sheltered their compatriots. She also thanked the Ukrainian Red Cross Society for its financial support of the government programme.

"Thanks to the Prykhystok, more than 1 million internally displaced people have found free temporary housing. More than 800,000 homeowners have applied for compensation for utilities. In total, more than one billion hryvnias have been financed under this programme to date," the Deputy Prime Minister added.

It should be noted that according to the Government's decision, the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territoires has been designated as the responsible executor of the Prykhystok project.

The Ministry will keep the relevant records and coordinate the compensation of expenses for sheltering IDPs.
