Government approves distribution of the reserve of educational subvention from the state budget to local budgets in 2023

Today, on May 16, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decree "On the Distribution of the Reserve of Educational Subvention from the State Budget to Local Budgets in 2023" at a meeting to pay off payroll arrears with accruals for pedagogical staff that were accumulated at the end of 2022 in the local budgets of Kharkiv and Kherson regions.

The regulation provides for the distribution of the educational subvention reserve between local budgets in the amount of UAH 14,580,400, which will allow to repay payroll.

Background

The provision of educational subventions from the state budget to local budgets, the main administrator of which is the Ministry of Education and Science, is regulated by Articles 97 and 103 of the Budget Code of Ukraine.

In particular, Article 103 of the Budget Code of Ukraine grants the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine the right to allocate the educational subvention reserve and determine the areas of use of such funds.
