The Government has decided to secure nearly GBP 1.7 billion from the United Kingdom for the additional procurement of weapons. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a Cabinet meeting on 11 June.

“With these funds, we plan to acquire Rapid Ranger air defence systems and Marlet lightweight multirole missiles. This will significantly strengthen our air defence and our ability to stop the enemy,” he stated.

Denys Shmyhal also highlighted that this month, the United Kingdom announced a record-breaking aid package for drone supplies to Ukraine, amounting to GBP 350 million, which will enable the delivery of 100,000 drones this year.

“We are grateful to our British partners for this extraordinary support, which helps us move closer to a just peace,” the Prime Minister stressed.

He also noted that in the first five months of this year, the Government allocated nearly 60% of the state budget to defence and security.
