Government provides additional funding for school meals for primary school pupils in eight frontline and border regions of Ukraine
The Government has provided additional funding for school meals for primary school pupils in eight frontline and border regions of Ukraine.
The decision was made possible thanks to a subsidy from the State Budget to local budgets with the support of the UN World Food Programme. The relevant resolution "On the distribution of subsidies from the State Budget to local budgets to improve hot meals and finance meals for primary school pupils in general secondary education institutions under a special fund in 2026" was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Thanks to this decision, funds received from the UN World Food Programme in the amount of UAH 89.8 million will be used to support local budgets in organising meals for primary school pupils during January-March 2026. This will ensure regular and adequate nutrition for all primary school pupils, and will reduce the burden on the State Budget.
It is expected that the implementation of the order will increase the coverage of children with quality nutrition, promote the formation of healthy eating habits from an early age, and have a positive impact on the learning process and development of schoolchildren.
