The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated UAH 12.5 million from the state budget reserve fund for the construction of fortifications in the eastern and southern directions. The Government made the decision at a meeting on November 17, 2023.

The allocated funds will allow for the implementation of priority measures, including the preparation of design estimates and tenders for the construction of fortifications at the facilities of three operational groups of troops.

"Strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities is the number one priority for today. The Government is systematically working to fulfill it, including by providing defense capabilities in certain areas at the request of military administrations. Last month, funds were allocated for the construction of defense facilities in the north of the country. Today, we have started a major effort to further strengthen defense in the east and south. I emphasize that this is a systematic work, the results of which are intended not only to create a multi-layered defense of the country today, but also to protect Ukraine from the encroachments of its northern neighbor in the future," said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated more than UAH 100 million for the construction of fortifications in Sumy region. Also, UAH 1.2 billion was earmarked to strengthen the north-eastern regions of the country.
