Government allocated UAH 500 million for school bus procurement

Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, posted 03 September 2025 13:27

The Government has allocated an additional UAH 500 million for the purchase of school buses, particularly for communities near conflict zones. The funds will be distributed to communities needing reliable transport for pupils and teaching staff to schools. Priority will be given to communities whose school buses were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine or were destroyed or stolen due to russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

This initiative requires no additional funding: the money has been drawn from unspent education subvention funds held in the special fund of the state budget.

The distribution of the additional subvention (UAH 273 million allocated earlier and UAH 500 million additional) across regions can be viewed via the provided link.

As a reminder, UAH 1.873 billion has already been allocated for bus procurement in 2025, which, combined with co-financing from local budgets, will enable the purchase of over 600 buses.

All school transport in Ukraine is manufactured in compliance with localisation requirements: at least 25% in 2025 and 30% in 2026, increasing by 5% annually until reaching 40%.

The procurement of school buses not only ensures the critical task of transporting pupils and staff to educational institutions but also supports Ukrainian manufacturers under the national Made in Ukraine policy.
