Cabinet of Ministers earmarks UAH 8.4 billion to ensure stable 2025-2026 heating season
On 23 October, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a decision to allocate UAH 8.4 billion from the reserve fund of the state budget to ensure a stable heating season for 2025/2026. The funds will be received by NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine for the purchase of imported natural gas necessary for the uninterrupted supply of heat to Ukrainian homes. This decision will help avoid disruptions in heat supply, reduce the risks of technogenic emergency situations, and support the stable operation of the energy system.
The funding will also enable the timely preparation of gas reserves for winter.
“Uninterrupted heat supply for Ukrainians is a matter of national resilience. We must guarantee the stable operation of the energy system even under martial law conditions. This decision allows the Government to respond promptly to challenges, strengthens energy security, and creates the preconditions for a sustainable heating season,” noted Vitaliy Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
This decision will enable the purchase of imported gas so that the country can stably pass the heating season, avoid disruptions in heat supply, and ensure the uninterrupted operation of hospitals, schools, and residential buildings in winter.
