Government addresses issues needed to complete tender for new generating capacity

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution “On amendments to the procedure for conducting a tender for the construction of generating capacity and implementation of demand-side response measures”.

The Government’s decision will enable the completion of the ongoing tender procedures for the construction of generating capacity to meet the needs of the Unified Energy System of Ukraine for additional reserves of highly manoeuvrable generation, primarily to ensure the balancing reliability of the power system, enhance the security of electricity supply to consumers, attract investment, and develop competition in the electricity market.

The resolution introduces amendments to the Procedure that will allow the new composition of the commission to review and decide on the tender proposals already submitted by participants, without the need for a repeated review of those proposals.

These changes will also enable NPC Ukrenergo to conclude contracts with the tender winners based on the results of the meeting of the updated commission.
