Government approves automatic extension of a range of social benefits from January 1, 2023

In order to ensure targeted social assistance and create convenient procedures for people during martial law, on December 27, at the initiative of the Ministry of Social Policy, the Government adopted a resolution “On Amendments to the Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1040 of October 6, 2021 and No. 214 of March 7, 2022”.

This decision allows to automatically extend social payments expiring during martial law. This applies, in particular, to people and children with disabilities, as well as to children deprived of parental care.

“The adopted resolution will ensure convenience for those citizens who are objectively eligible for automatic extension of payments. It will also ensure provision of assistance to those who really need it,” said Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych.

Hence, starting January 1, the following social benefits and allowances will be automatically extended:

• for children under guardianship or supervision,
• for children with serious illnesses,
• to children whose parents evade the payment of alimony,
• to persons with disabilities since childhood, and children with disabilities;
• to persons who care for persons with group I and II disabilities due to mental disorders;
• to persons who are not entitled to a pension, and persons with disabilities.

Also, a transition period for the payment of monthly compensation payments to unemployed able-bodied persons who care for a person with a disability of group I, as well as for a person who has reached the age of 80, has been extended until December 31, 2023.
