Government adopts first decision of emergency support package for farmers

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted the first decision within the emergency support package for the agricultural sector in response to russian attacks in the Black Sea.

The Government has temporarily adjusted the minimum allowable export prices for certain types of agricultural products until the situation stabilizes. This measure is intended to prevent the suspension of grain and oilseed exports.

“Minimum prices previously set became economically unattainable for concluding contracts due to rising logistics costs and falling domestic purchase prices. This decision will help unlock producers’ ability to sell and export their products,” emphasized Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi.

According to him, this is one of the practical steps to support Ukrainian producers and exporters, agreed upon with industry representatives in advance.

The Prime Minister also instructed the immediate preparation of a plan for the development of processing Ukrainian agricultural products, so that more production and processing takes place inside Ukraine.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine monitors the situation in the agricultural sector daily. In case of further changes, the Government will promptly adopt the necessary decisions.

Other steps are also being prepared to stabilize the situation in the agricultural sector.
