Government simplifies provision of administrative services in seed production

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has improved the procedure for providing administrative services in the field of seed production.

The relevant resolution, titled “On Amendments to Certain Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Regarding the Application of Administrative Procedures in the Field of Seed Production,” developed by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture was adopted at a regular Government meeting.

The document provides for the unification of terminology and procedures for agricultural producers to obtain the following documents and permits:

• Confirmation for importing samples of seeds and planting material of plant varieties not listed in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine, for breeding, research, and exhibition purposes;
• Certificates verifying the quality of seeds and planting material. In particular, it enables business entities to obtain certificates confirming the quality of an entire produced batch of planting material of a single variety and category, in accordance with the stage of propagation, without dividing it into separate batches for certification for each buyer individually;
• Certificates for auditors of certification (agronomist-inspectors).

The implementation of the resolution will positively impact the development of agriculture, particularly in the field of seed production, and will contribute to deregulation in this area.
