Government allots over UAH 27 million to compensate utility costs for August to communities that sheltered internally displaced persons

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated more than UAH 27.3 million from the reserve fund of the State Budget to reimburse utility costs for August to the communities that have sheltered internally displaced persons in municipal and state institutions, as well as private educational institutions. The relevant decree was adopted by the Government at a meeting on December 23.

It should be noted that the amounts of compensation are calculated on the basis of the information generalised by Ministry for Communities and Territories Development from regional military administrations, central executive authorities on the costs paid by institutions for utilities consumed in August 2022 in the buildings (premises) in balance, in which temporarily displaced persons were accommodated free of charge under martial law.

During August, almost 89,000 IDPs were accommodated in the regions and 2,918 municipal and state-owned institutions and private educational institutions were involved.

Earlier, the Government amended the Procedure and conditions for providing compensation for consumed utilities for the accommodation of internally displaced persons in buildings (premises) of state, municipal and private property during martial law. From now on, starting from September 1, compensation for utilities can also be received by legal entities and individuals entrepreneurs who provided free temporary housing for IDPs.
