Government allocates UAH 1.1 billion from Japanese grant for demining and medical support
The Government is directing UAH 1.1 billion (JPY 4 billion) from the grant provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support demining efforts and medical assistance. The decision was approved at a Cabinet meeting. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to the Prime Minister, the State Emergency Service will receive equipment worth UAH 984 million to enhance the capabilities of deminers. This includes demining machinery, protective gear, and training for the population on mine safety. Another UAH 140 million will be allocated to equip medical institutions under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The funding will provide equipment for the treatment and rehabilitation of the wounded, particularly those with mine-blast injuries.
“We are moving on to the practical implementation of the agreement signed in January. We are grateful to our Japanese partners for their continued support of Ukraine,” emphasised Yulia Svyrydenko.
