The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the draft law “On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine concerning the verification of patient information”.
The document provides for amendments to the laws of Ukraine on the verification of data between the electronic healthcare system and other registers: the Unified State Demographic Register, the State Register of Civil Status Acts, and the State Register of Individual Taxpayers.
Thus, the functionality of the electronic healthcare system is expected to ensure interaction between the central database and other information resources. In order to enable such interaction, a list of data on individuals has been established, which must be processed and verified between the aforementioned resources.
“These changes are aimed at improving the quality of patient data. This will allow patients to receive medical services without hindrance (patient information will be up-to-date by minimising possible duplicates), avoid technical errors when accessing personal medical information, etc.,” said Maria Karchevych, Deputy Minister of Health for Digital Development.
The procedure will be carried out in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On personal data protection”.
It is worth noting that data protection has always been a priority since the launch of the electronic healthcare system.
