The Government of Ukraine has approved the draft Law of Ukraine "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on Privileges, Immunities and Benefits Granted to the Organization and the OECD Office in Ukraine" prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Agreement aims to facilitate the establishment and proper functioning of the OECD Office in Ukraine in order to further enhance the fruitful cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Organization.
The draft Agreement, developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to replace the existing Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the OECD of December 19, 1997, is brought in line with current realities and corresponds in form to similar agreements between the OECD and its member states.
The ratification of the Agreement will create legal conditions for the official launch of the OECD Office in Kyiv, which will be operating temporarily. As Ukraine is recognized as a potential OECD member, the office will operate provisionally until 2026 to support our country in its recovery. Once Ukraine becomes a member, the OECD office will operate in Ukraine on a permanent basis.
