On 20 December, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the decree "Some Issues of Communication Support for the Implementation of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine until 2030".

For the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications, barrier-free accessibility is one of its key priorities, and the purpose of this government decision is to ensure effective communication support for the National Strategy for Creating Barrier-Free Environment until 2030 as well as to raise public awareness of the importance and value of barrier-free access.

Proper communication between the contributors of the Strategy and the public will help create a barrier-free environment in Ukraine.

The Strategy envisages communicating the concepts of physical, informational, digital, social, educational and economic barriers to citizens.

It envisages the active involvement of stakeholders in communication with representatives of the sectors that provide for the basic needs of people with disabilities, NGOs and community groups that face various barriers. The document also includes forecasting possible communication risks and ways to prevent/overcome crisis situations.

Ministries, other central executive authorities, regional and Kyiv city state administrations (military administrations) are required to apply the standard solutions and brand book approved by the Strategy when taking measures under the Strategy, develop and submit communication action plans to the ICRC, and report on their implementation.

This decision of the Government is an important step towards the formation of a modern society of equal opportunities, ready to overcome the challenges of today.
