Government enlarges war risk insurance program

The Government is expanding the war risk insurance program. Compensation for damaged property in frontline regions is being increased to UAH 30 million. For the rest of the country, the compensation amount is being increased to UAH 3 million. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

She emphasized that the Government continued to improve support measures, taking into account feedback and the real needs of businesses.

1. Regarding compensation for damaged or destroyed property:

- the maximum compensation amount is increased from UAH 10 million to UAH 30 million;

- the rule under which the compensation amount was reduced by the amount of previously received grants or other state support is abolished;

- businesses that have already submitted applications have an opportunity to clarify them until May 1, 2026, including to increase the claimed amount of potential losses or to add other property to the application, provided it was included in the program as of the date of damage or destruction.

2. Regarding compensation for insurance premiums:

- the maximum compensation amount is increased from UAH 1 million to UAH 3 million;

- opportunity to receive support is accelerated — applications for compensation can be submitted as early as the 31st day after the insurance contract is signed;

- if the contract provides for payment of the insurance premium in installments, compensation will also be paid in installments — proportional to the payments made.

“Since the program’s launch on January 1, 2026, we have already seen first results. Businesses have submitted 52 claims for compensation for damaged or destroyed property, of which 20 have already been approved for UAH 166.5 million. Twenty-one requests for insurance premium compensation have been submitted,” the Prime Minister reported.

Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the program is part of the Made in Ukraine policy for the development of Ukrainian manufacturers and is administered by the Export-Credit Agency.
