The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated UAH 125.5 million from the state budget reserve fund to provide Mykolaiv with potable water. The decision was made at a session of the Cabinet of Ministers on April 12, 2024.
"Due to the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP by the aggressor and the destruction of the Kakhovka reservoir, a problem with the supply of drinking water to the residents of Mykolaiv arose. It has now been partially resolved - water is being supplied to the city from Ingulets. To ensure its delivery and maintain the required quality, the Government reimburses the relevant costs. The funds allocated today from the state budget reserve fund will be enough to finance uninterrupted water supply until the end of June. In the future, it is planned that the state budget will be amended accordingly. The funds will come from the main fund of the state budget," explained Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
According to the Government's decision, the funds to compensate for the cost of electricity used to supply water through the Dnipro-Ingulets canal will be transferred to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources for the State Water Resources Agency.
Earlier, the Government allocated UAH 186.9 million to restore water and heat supply facilities in Kherson damaged as a result of the blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam by the russian federation.
