Polish Government to provide Ukraine with additional EUR 60 million loan for development of border infrastructure
Today, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a Protocol between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Poland amending an intergovernmental agreement on granting Ukraine a concessional loan for the implementation of investment projects.
The initial loan agreement was concluded in 2015 for EUR 100 million, of which more than EUR 40 million has been used so far.
Today’s changes provide for an increase in the loan amount from EUR 100 million to EUR 160 million. The additional funds will be used to finance projects for the development of border road infrastructure and arrangement of border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
As a reminder, in September 2022, a regular meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk. The result of the Commission’s work was an increase in the loan amount and other changes recorded in the Protocol.
“I thank the Government of Poland for its unwavering support of Ukraine in these difficult times. Recent agreements are another step towards integration of Ukraine into the single economic space of the European Union. Poland once again proves that it is a logistics and economic hub for Ukraine. After all, the development of border infrastructure, improvement of transport communication is primarily aimed at expanding trade relations between Ukraine and the EU. Together with a common border we are building a common future,” Iryna Vereshchuk emphasized.
