The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a decision allowing alert systems to be used for the nationwide minute of silence and other commemorative events.
From now on, alert systems will be used every day at 09:00 to announce the nationwide minute of silence. They will also be used during the nationwide “Light a Candle” campaign, which takes place annually on the fourth Saturday of November to honour the memory of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933.
“We are shaping a new culture of remembrance. The daily minute of silence is an important part of it and an expression of our respect for fallen defenders and civilian victims,” said Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
