Government ordered inspection of all civil defense shelters

Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi instructed that civil defense shelters be urgently inspected to ensure proper maintenance and unrestricted access for citizens.

Relevant ministries and services, together with regional military administrations — including Kyiv City Military Administration — and local self-government bodies within their areas of responsibility, must immediately check all civil defense shelters for proper upkeep and free access for the public. All responsible officials have received corresponding instructions.

“Access to shelters must be available even when danger is already expected but the alarm has not yet been declared. Under constant ballistic threat, regional authorities and city administrations must act more swiftly and based on the real need to protect people,” emphasized the Head of Government.

Sergii Koretskyi stressed that in the fifth year of full-scale war, it was unacceptable for Ukrainian cities to face problems with access to shelters: “This is intolerable. People must always have the opportunity to enter shelters in advance and without hindrance, especially when there is a ballistic threat. And this is the personal responsibility of every official.”
