Cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and healthcare sectors was discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and President of the State of Israel Isaac Herzog in Kyiv.
Denys Shmyhal stressed on the successful development of economic cooperation between the countries, especially in the context of the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement on January 1, 2021.
"The Agreement coming into effect has become a crucial stage in the development of Ukrainian-Israeli relations. It is aimed to promote trade liberalization, the creation of transparent rules for doing business and new trade conditions," said the Head of the Ukrainian Government.
Besides, the Prime Minister informed the President of Israel about the projects to create and modernize irrigation systems in the southern regions of Ukraine and invited Israeli companies to participate in their implementation.
According to the PM of Ukraine, scientific and technical cooperation is also one of the promising areas of bilateral partnership. Inter alia, Ukraine is interested in exchanging experience and studying Israeli practice of state support for the development of new technologies, commercialization of scientific research, creation of startups and encouragement of investment in research sector.
"We are also keen on expanding our cooperation in the field of information and new technologies and the implementation of joint promising projects in this area," added Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister noted interest in the bilateral collaboration in the healthcare and pharmaceutical spheres.
"Given Israel's significant expertise in this area, Ukraine is interested in exchanging information on psychological rehabilitation for veterans and combatants, as well as establishing cooperation in providing rehabilitation measures for people with disabilities," the Ukrainian Prime Minister said.
For his part, Israeli President Isaac Herzog reaffirmed his readiness to cooperate in the field of new technologies and assured that the new Israeli Government is ready to intensify cooperation with Ukraine in various fields.
