In 5 years, Ukraine has every opportunity to get energy independence, provided that the Government and the extractive industry work together in a concerted manner. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman in an interview with Dmytro Gordon.
"If all of us work in synergy, in 5 years we could manage to abandon purchasing gas", said Volodymyr Groysman.
The PM stressed that for many years Ukraine had been preserving its capabilities and gas reserves, instead, since 2008, it had borrowed money under the commitment to align prices in Ukraine with those in European countries. "Under this obligation, we borrowed the money that we are currently servicing. What should we do? To produce domestic gas. Given the potential we have sufficient amount of resources", said Volodymyr Groysman. "We should move away from import parity."
