On April 24, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the initiated by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade resolution on the termination of the Agreement on Mutual Preservation of Inter-State Secrets in the Area of Legal Protection of Inventions and the Agreement on Methodological Comparison and Creation of a Common Statistical Base of the Economic Union within the CIS.
Thus, the Agreement on Mutual Preservation of Inter-State Secrets in the Area of Legal Protection of Inventions signed on June 4, 1999, in Minsk, was designed to provide legal protection for secret inventions that were created in the former USSR. Today, the legal relations between the participants of the Agreement in this area exist no longer. The Agreement itself is generally obsolete and does not correspond to the current state of economic relations between the countries that are part of the CIS.
The Agreement on Methodological Comparison and Creation of a Common Statistical Base of the Economic Union within the CIS was concluded on February 10, 1995, in Almaty with the purpose of creating a general statistical database, the formation of which is provided on the basis of the list of indicators for interstate exchange between the CIS countries.
However, in the current developments, this Agreement has long lost its practical value and is not applicable. It should be noted that all necessary and potentially useful statistical information, in particular of an economic nature, is fully disclosed in open access on the official websites of the statistical authorities of the countries-participants.
According to the decision of the Government of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will inform the CIS Executive Committee in line with the established procedure about the termination of the validity of the aforesaid Agreements for Ukraine.
