Ukraine and Moldova liberalized air and vehicle connection and agreed to synchronize the energy systems of Moldova and Ukraine with the ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission System Operators). Relevant agreements were reached during the meeting between the Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman and Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Pavel Filip.
The parties emphasized energy and economic component of cooperation has a significant potential for growth. Thus, the volume of mutual trade already exceeds $ 800 million, and may reach annually $ 1 billion.
"There are many questions that call for a joint decision and our bilateral contacts contribute to mutual progress. We move forward in solving problems and face the future with confidence", Volodymyr Groysman emphasized.
"I think that your proposal to achieve a turnover to the tune of $ 1 billion is realistic. We have the potential to reach more higher rates. We are Ukraine's neighbors", Pavel Filip stated.
During the talks the sides discussed a wide range of issues relating to road map for bilateral cooperation and agreed on the participation of the Head of Ukrainian Government in the GUAM Summit in Chisinau in June this year.
Background
In the presence of the Prime Ministers of the two States the Agreement between Governments of Ukraine and Moldova on air services, Protocol amending Agreement between Government of Moldova and Government of Ukraine of 20 March 1993 on International car communications and Memorandum of Cooperation between Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine on joint actions to ensure European integration processes for synchronous operation of energy systems of two states with the European Network of Transmission System Operators were signed.
