On June 23, the 8th meeting of the Subcommission on Cooperation in Agriculture Field of the Commission on Cooperation between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the People's Republic of China took place.
The event was chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine - Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China Ma Youxiang.
The Ukrainian delegation included First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky, Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer ProtectionVladyslava Magaletska, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries of Ukraine.
"China is Ukraine's most important strategic partner in Asia, with which we systematically develop cooperation in the agricultural sector. In particular, the 4 months of 2021 show record volumes of trade in agricultural products with China. The turnover of agricultural products during this period increased by 33.4% to $ 5.7 billion compared to the same period in 2020. We are interested in further increasing trade and diversifying products that Ukraine exports to China, "said Taras Kachka.
The Deputy Minister also noted that in addition to trade, Ukraine has great scientific potential, developed infrastructure, favorable geographical position at the intersection of major transport routes between Europe and Asia, which makes Ukraine attractive for investment and deepening cooperation in agriculture.
Among other things, the Ukrainian side informed about the measures taken by the Government of Ukraine in the framework of opening the land market, which is one of the priorities of the state, designed to give impetus to the development of the economy, farming and agriculture.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of fisheries, investment and scientific and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture.
Apart from that, the sides also tackled the development of investment cooperation in the agro-industrial complex under the auspices of the implementation of the bilateral Cooperation Program for the development of the "Silk Road Economic Belt".
