  • Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany to boost cooperation in social security

    On November 7, 2018, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine has become a venue for a ceremony of the conclusion of an Agreement between Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany on social security and an Understanding on the implementation of the Agreement between Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany on social security.

    On behalf of Ukraine the Social Security Agreement between Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany and on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine an agreement on implementation of the Agreement between Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany on social security was signed by Andrii Reva, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine.

    Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Ernst Reichel signed the Social Security Agreement on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Understanding on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

    The subject of legal regulation of the Agreement for Ukraine is the compulsory public social insurance against accidents at work and occupational diseases that caused disability, for the payment of pensions and other financial assistance; compulsory state pension insurance.

    The subject of legal regulation of the Agreement for the Federal Republic of Germany is insurance in case of an accident for the payment of pensions and other financial assistance; pension insurance; additional insurance of workers of mining and metallurgical enterprises; assistance for farmers in old age.

    The purpose of the Agreement between Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany on social security is the development of mutual cooperation in the social protection sector and settlement of social security issues for the citizens of Ukraine and the Federal Republic of Germany.

    The conclusion of the Agreement is the first step towards its implementation.

    The next step is to implement internal procedures for its entry into force. In Ukraine, the Agreement is subject to ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
