Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine, posted 03 June 2020 18:31

The Government supported the proposal to authorize the acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Olha Buslavets for the signing of the Agreement on the contribution between Ukraine and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on Ukraine's participation in the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership. The relevant draft Order of the President of Ukraine was approved at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 3.

The signing of the Agreement provides for a contribution to the Fund in the amount of EUR10 million, thereby allowing to obtain access to financial support in the shape of grants and technical assistance for implementation of projects to improve energy efficiency and the environmental situation. The result should be a significant reduction in electricity consumption, reduced emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

Ukraine's participation in the preliminary phase of the Fund with the amount of a contribution worth EUR10 million allowed to attract funding for the implementation of 22 projects with a total value of over EUR516 million.

It should be noted that during the meeting of the Assembly of Contributors of the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership Fund, which took place on November 22, 2019 in London, a decision was made to continue the Fund's activities until 2029.
