  • Ukraine counts on reaching an agreement on the start of negotiations on the revision of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in 2021

    September 8, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Development of Poland Jadwiga Emilewicz on the margins of the 2020 Economic Forum.

    "Today's meeting is a good opportunity to discuss the prospects of bilateral cooperation, which is of a strategic nature. In particular, it is promising to deepen cooperation in the field of trade, financial markets, investment, agriculture and veterinary medicine," Ihor Petrashko stressed.

    The Minister emphasized that despite the negative consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, in the third quarter of this year, Ukraine's economy began to recover. An important aspect of further stabilization and growth of the economy is to attract investment into Ukraine's economy.

    At the same time, according to the Forecast of Economic and Social Development of Ukraine for 2021-2023, economic growth is planned due to a set of factors: industrial development, increasing the share of processing in the agricultural sector, small and medium business support programs, improving the business climate and privatization.

    The sides dwelled on Ukraine's cooperation with the European Union. The Minister Ihor Petrashko noted that Ukraine looks forward to reaching an agreement on the start of negotiations on the revision of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in 2021 and hopes for friendly support from Poland in this important issue. In particular, the priority is not only to further deepen trade liberalization, but also the key provisions of the economic part of the Agreement as a whole.
