Ukraine has excellent chances to become energy independent country by 2020  both  in  terms of production capacity of the SE Ukrgazvydobuvannya and in the capacities of private extractive companies. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said in an interview with the Obozrevatel portal.

"We set the task to increase production to 20 billion cubic meters of gas by 2020. Last year we consumed 33 billion cubic meters, therefore, some private gas companies  have unresolved gas issues. Plus – energy efficiency measures. We have to produce as much as we consume. To this end, two things are needed: we need to produce more and consume less", the Prime Minister emphasized.

Applying of energy efficiency technologies, according to the Prime Minister, will allow to reduce energy consumption. "Indeed, we have already achieved a significant reduce in gas consumption, but there is still a long way to go. I hope the  new working mechanism of the Energy Efficiency Fund will be launched in the fall. This instrument will enable us to carry out modernization in the residential sector on an ongoing basis", Volodymyr Groysman underscored.
