  • Ukraine expects EUR 3 billion in investments from EBRD by end of 2023: Yuliia Svyrydenko in London

    First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko, during a meeting with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso in London, discussed all possible ways of assistance from the EBRD in overcoming the energy crisis caused by russian aggression.

    “The recent decision to finance Ukrenergo projects in the amount of EUR 372 million, which also includes grant funds from the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is especially timely and relevant for the rapid repair of damage caused by the massive shelling,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

    During the meeting, additional measures that can be implemented by the bank in Ukraine, in particular in the field of energy saving, were discussed.

    The main topic of the discussion was the strategy of the EBRD presence in Ukraine. The experience in financing projects this year allows to increase the scale of EBRD activities in Ukraine. The ambitious goals of the EBRD and the Government will allow to implement investments of up to EUR 3 billion next year.

    The Government is doing everything to enhance efficiency of work with the Bank, in particular in strengthening policies that directly affect implementation of projects in Ukraine, especially in the field of corporate governance of state-owned companies that are clients of the EBRD.

    The First Deputy Prime Minister also informed Ms. Odile Renaud-Basso that the Government is currently focusing on development of such priority sectors as digital economy, agriculture, including processing and food industry, metallurgy.

    Besides, the parties are also working on coordination with other partners, and discussed preparations for the next conferences on reconstruction in Paris and London.
