The State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) hosted a meeting of the delegation of German experts on infrastructure development chaired by Rainer Bomba, former State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany.
"This year Ukraine has ambitious plans backed by record funding and a clear action plan. We attract funds under state guarantees, work on public-private partnership projects, introduce new principles of work. The German experience is important for us both in terms of planning and systematic organization of all processes," Olexandr Kubrakov, Chairman of Ukravtodor said.
Mr Rainer Bomba praised Ukravtodor's goal to upgrade state roads in the coming years and shared the experience of road network planning for 10-20 years. According to Mr Bomba, Ukravtodor's initiative to independently assess the quality of the roads sets new rules for the road business. However, for maximum effect, it is necessary to develop technical supervision at all stages of repair and construction work.
"This year, we engage independent technical oversight not only for projects implemented with the help of international financial institutions but also for projects that are implemented with state funds. Independent technical supervision will be carried out at all stages, including the period when the contractor provides a guarantee for the work performed," Olexandr Kubrakov commented.
On the outcomes of the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the participation of German experts to achieve long-term plans for construction and development of Ukraine's motorway network.
