At its session on February 10, the Government has approved the decision to attract a grant from the United States in the amount of USD 6 billion, announced Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. According to him, this funding will be used for social programs, education, and healthcare.
“The corresponding grant will come through a donor fund administered by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association. This Fund will also provide a grant of USD 165 million from a number of European countries,” noted Denys Shmyhal.
The Cabinet of Ministers authorizes the Minister of Finance to sign the agreements on these grants.
The Prime Minister accentuated that since the beginning of 2023, international partners had already provided USD 4.2 billion to Ukraine. In total, Ukraine needs USD 38 billion to finance the budget deficit this year.
“We are grateful to our allies for their help. It allows us to support the most vulnerable segments of the population, to support our economy and to allocate the funds of Ukrainian taxpayers to provide our security and defense forces,” stressed the Head of Government.
