Ukraine attracts US investment in energy and digital infrastructure
The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has announced new investment decisions for Ukraine in two strategic areas — energy and digital infrastructure. The move will help strengthen the protection of Ukraine's critical infrastructure and bolster its energy security.
"The Government is grateful to DFC and our American partners for their trust. This decision to invest in Ukraine's energy and telecommunications infrastructure confirms the country's strong investment potential even amid a full-scale war. We have a robust private sector and projects that international capital is ready to back right now. Our task is to keep this dialogue going and to put together a strong investment offering," said Ukraine's Minister of Economy and Environment Oleksii Kravchenko.
Specifically, DFC will provide financing to Vodafone Ukraine to help strengthen and modernise critical telecommunications infrastructure. This will also support the rollout of reliable technology across Ukraine's digital infrastructure.
In addition, DFC financing will back a portfolio of battery energy storage systems with a combined capacity of 200 MW / 400 MWh, located at six sites across Ukraine, boosting the resilience and stability of the power grid. These measures will help strengthen the energy system's resilience and will ensure supplying electricity to 600,000 households for up to two hours.
