Ukraine welcomes the decision of partner countries to provide funding to strengthen Ukraine’s nuclear safety following international events commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko announced.

In particular:

- The Government of Norway has announced the allocation of 500 million NOK ($53 million) to support nuclear safety in Ukraine.

- The U.S. Department of State has announced its intention to provide USD 100 million to support the safety of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

These funds will be directed toward mitigating the consequences of russian strikes on the New Safe Confinement in February 2025, as well as supporting efforts to ensure the continued safe containment of nuclear materials on site.

“We are grateful to our partners for their consistent and effective support in strengthening Ukraine’s energy and nuclear security,” stressed Yulia Svyrydenko.
