  • Ukraine exported goods for USD 3.2 billion in August: Yuliia Svyrydenko

    In August 2024, Ukraine exported goods worth more than USD 3.16 billion. This is by 6.4% more than in July and 17.5% more than in August 2023. In terms of value, the largest exports were of rapeseed or kohlseed - by USD 421.3 million. In terms of physical volume, ores and iron concentrates were the second largest. Their exports reached 2.5 million tonnes.

    "For the second month in a row, exports have been growing due to the early start of the harvest and improved maritime logistics. In August, we increased our sea freight turnover by 224,700 tonnes or 3.6% compared to July. Ukraine remains a guarantor of food security in the world. In August, Ukraine supplied more than 2.2 million tonnes of wheat to foreign markets for USD 420.4 million. After the record-breaking figures of February 2024, this is the second record-breaking figure both in terms of volume and value since the beginning of the full-scale invasion,’ said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

    In the agricultural sector, Ukraine exported the following in August:

    • rapeseed – 878,900 tonnes for USD 421.3 million
    • wheat - 2.24 million tonnes, worth USD 420.4 million
    • sunflower oil – 226,900 tonnes, worth USD 203.1 mln;
    • corn – 774,500 tonnes, worth USD 137.4 mln;
    • barley – 524,800 tonnes worth USD 89.7 mln;
    • poultry – 39,900 tonnes worth USD 89.5 mln.

    Among industrial products, the structure of Ukrainian exports was dominated by:

    • iron ores and concentrates - 2.51 million tonnes, worth USD 201.4 million
    • semi-finished iron products - 198,500 tonnes for USD 99.9 million;
    • flat products - 139,700 tonnes, worth USD 82.4 million;
    • ferrous metal pipes - 38,000 tonnes for USD 54.6 million.
