Government of Ukraine and Ambassadors of G7 states tackle strengthening anti-corruption policy
Today, the Governmental team headed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko held a significant and constructive meeting with Ambassadors of the Group of Seven (G7) countries. The discussion covered one of the key areas of Government policy - the fight against corruption.
The meeting's participants confirmed the clear position of the Government of Ukraine - zero tolerance to corruption. The relevant principles will be enshrined in the Action Program of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
“Today, the President of Ukraine has made an important decision to submit a new draft law that will not only eliminate existing discrepancies in anti-corruption legislation, but will also significantly strengthen the independence of the entire anti-corruption infrastructure,” said Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
Particular attention should be paid to protecting key institutions such as the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) - legislative changes should prevent any political or external influence on their activities, including from the aggressor state.
The Government of Ukraine is sincerely grateful to the G7 partners for their continued support, trust and principled position in the joint struggle for the rule of law and effective anti-corruption policy.
