The Governments of Ukraine and France renewed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy signed in Kyiv in 1998. The agreement expired in 2020.

The countries exchanged letters on the renewal of the Agreement between the Governments of France and Ukraine on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy.

The document was signed by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and Stéphane Séjourné, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France. The signing took place in Paris in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of France Emmanuel Macron.

The document was extended for another 20 years.

The agreement creates legal conditions for cooperation in the maintenance of nuclear facilities.

France has been consistently helping to support Ukraine's energy system. In particular, the French side has previously stated its readiness to allocate additional funds to meet the priority needs of the Ukrainian side.
