Ukraine counts on accelerating integration into European energy markets during Spain’s EU Council presidency
Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with a delegation of the Government of Spain led by Deputy Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Xiana Méndez Bértolo.
The Head of the Ministry of Energy stressed that Ukraine relied on the support of Spain, as the EU Council Presidency, for our country’s efforts to become a full member of the European Union, as well as for the integration of our energy markets with the European ones.
German Galushchenko underlined that the Ukrainian side was actively cooperating with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) to implement a roadmap for the integration of the electricity markets of Ukraine and the European Union, which would ensure the proper functioning of the markets and facilitate cross-border electricity trade.
The parties discussed the restoration of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which had been damaged as a result of hostile russian attacks. The Minister thanked the Spanish side for the assistance already provided and informed about the current needs of Ukrainian energy companies for equipment and materials.
The meeting also focused on areas of future cooperation in the energy sector, including the implementation of joint hydrogen projects.
