On September 14, the first tranche of immediate assistance from the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the amount of EUR 500 million for supporting the state-owned enterprises Ukravtodor and Ukrzaliznytsia has been transferred.
These funds are part of the second EIB aid package Ukraine Solidarity Urgent Response worth EUR 1.59 billion, developed in close cooperation with the European Commission. This financial assistance is guaranteed by the EU within the framework of the External Lending Mandate and complements the emergency financial support for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 668 million, which was provided to Ukraine by the EIB at the beginning of March 2022.
"We are grateful to the European Union and the EIB team for their solidarity with Ukraine. Your continued support is of great importance for the people of Ukraine, the economic stability and the overall sustainability of the country. The received first tranches from the aid package from the EIB in the amount of EUR 1.59 billion will help the country to restore damaged critical infrastructure, including the network of roads and railways," said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.
The first part of the second aid package from the EIB will be directed by the Government of Ukraine to ensure the urgent repair of damaged roads, bridges and railway infrastructure, in the framework of the support of state-owned enterprises the Ukravtodor and the Ukrzaliznytsia.
