Ukraine received about USD 690 million from the IMF under the New Extended Fund Facility Arrangement

Ukraine has received SDR 503 million (about USD 690 million), the second disbursement under the IMF’s new four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) programme. The total amount of financing received by Ukraine under the new EFF programme has reached USD 2.2 billion.

The funds have already been transferred to the State Budget of Ukraine and will be used to finance priority expenditures and maintain macro-financial stability amid the ongoing full-scale war.

The programme was approved by the IMF Executive Board on 26 February 2026. The new EFF programme provides a total of USD 8.1 billion in financing for 2026-2029. It reflects the updated macroeconomic and security conditions facing Ukraine, as well as the country’s significant current and medium-term fiscal needs.

“I am grateful to the International Monetary Fund for its trust and consistent support for Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the State Budget has received a total of USD 15.6 billion in financial assistance from the Fund. We continue to work actively on implementing jointly agreed reforms aimed at maintaining macroeconomic stability, strengthening public administration, supporting recovery efforts and, ultimately, advancing Ukraine’s European integration,” said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.

The programme provides for the implementation of a prudent fiscal policy, including measures to strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation by ensuring a level playing field for taxpayers and reducing opportunities for tax evasion.

The new programme also facilitates the mobilisation of substantial external financial support to cover Ukraine’s budgetary needs. According to joint estimates by the Government of Ukraine and the IMF, the overall external financing gap for 2026-2029 is projected at approximately USD 136.5 billion under the baseline scenario.
